AHRN is a regional network of critical minerals observers across the Great Lakes region. The network brings together observers from DR Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi.
The network is dedicated to monitoring the impacts of critical mineral extraction on the environment, public health, social wellbeing, and human rights. We offer statistical data and reports on extractions impacts.
AHRN equips activists with the skills, tools, and digital security needed to safely document, share information and report on issues affecting their communities and the realities on ground. It offers a platform that capacitates them to generate credible, community-based evidence to foster change and fairness. We therefore provide tailored training for observers and other stakeholders.
AHRN helps ensure that the public interests, environment, social-economic fairness and wellbeing is protected. To achieve this, we advise and provide recommendations to mining companies and stakeholders on accountability, fairness and inclusion.
