The AHRN Foundation proudly participated in the 28th Conference of the Parties to
the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), held in Dubai from November 30 to
December 12.
The delegation from the AHRN Foundation was led by Mr Olivier MUHIZI, the organization’s coordinator,
who actively contributed to crucial global discussions on climate change. .
This participation underscores the AHRN Foundation’s commitment to environmental protection and its
support for climate defenders who play a vital role in addressing climate change challenges in Africa.
Mr Olivier MUHIZI shared insights into the experiences and challenges faced by human rights defenders
related to climate change in Africa. He emphasized the importance of supporting these essential actors
who often work under challenging conditions to protect the environment and fundamental rights. .
In addition to its presence at COP28, the AHRN Foundation boasts a robust network known as the African Climate
Activists Network. This network collaborates with local organizations across Africa dedicated to climate change
initiatives. By fostering connections and partnerships, the African Climate Activists Network amplifies the impact
of grassroots efforts, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable future for the continent. .
